Covington - Mrs. Robert (Opal Eleanor) Cossey, age 41, of Danville, Ill., formerly of Covington Rt. 2, died unexpectedly early Sunday afternoon, July 21, in Terre Haute where she and her husband were visiting over the weekend. She also had formerly lived in Gessie and Rileysburg. Mrs. Cossey was born Jan. 28, 1927 in Warren County, the daughter of Joseph Vernon and Opal Baughner Hegg, who survive and live on Covington Rt. 2. She was married March 22, 1947 to Robert E. Cossey, who survives. She was a graduate of Perrysville High School and a 1948 graduate of the Lake View Memorial School of Nursing. She had been employed as a nurse at the Newport Ordnance plant. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband and parents, are: one daughter, Mrs. Cynthia Eleanor South of Danville; one brother, James Hegg of West Lebanon; and one sister, Mrs. Carol McBride of State Line. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethel Baptist Church. The Rev. William Fulkerson officiated. Cremation will follow at Indianapolis. The Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington was in charge of arrangements.
